The doors open nearly every day of the year at 6 am Canberra Bakery in the morning with freshly baked products and that wonderful aroma that keeps customers coming back for our wide selection of breads and pastries. Hawker Village Bakery opened it's doors for the first time in May 2000 in shop 4 , 38 Hawker Place, Hawker in the ACT. The bakery was originally set up as a bakery café and traded that way for nearly two years. The open plan layout and window views allow customers to see every corner of the bakery and the bakers making the products. This brings a level of confidence that allows clear sight of the cleanliness and hygiene standards.
This concept worked well but the popularity of the huge range of breads, pies and cakes meant that the café area had to be converted in a larger production area for the bakers to cope with the demand.
The bakery was established by the Topp family who still put their hearts into continuing to supply the community with their products. The community has embraced the bakery and its range of freshly baked products, the bakery's fame has grown with time to ensure a busy flow of customers but with still a prompt and friendly level of service.

Our breads do not have preservatives or bread fats added which is unique to our bakery; nearly every bakery in Australia adds bread fat or oils to their breads. We do add extra virgin olive oil to our ciabatta to give a rich delicious flavour to the bread but don't tell anyone else.
